Privacy policy
This is a translation for convenience. The Japanese version prevails.
ZHOU YUEJIE ("we") handles personal information obtained through NekoLang in line with Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information.
1. Who we are

2. What we collect
- Account: email address, and an identifier from the sign-in provider (such as Google)
- Purchases: purchase ID, amount, date, status, your account's identifier. Your card number does not reach us; Stripe handles it
- Contact: email address and what you write to us
- Technical: IP address and browser type, received by Cloudflare, which delivers the site and audio, to deliver them and prevent misuse
Your study record (answers, results, study time, settings, chosen language) is stored in the browser on your device. It is not sent to a server and does not sync between devices, and we cannot see it. It does not follow you to another device and is lost if you clear the browser's data, so use the app's export if you need a copy.
Neither these pages nor the app use analytics tools, tools that record crashes, or advertising, and we use no tracking cookies.
3. Why we use it
- To provide the Service and sign you in
- To confirm purchases, manage your right of use, make refunds and keep tax records
- To answer you and send important notices
- To correct questions and explanations from what you report
- To prevent misuse and investigate faults
We do not use personal information for advertising and we do not sell it.
4. Sharing and service providers
Except where the law allows, we do not give personal information to third parties without your consent. To run the Service, we entrust or provide it to the following companies, as far as needed.

5. Transfer abroad
As the table shows, your information may be handled by companies outside Japan, such as in the United States, and stored on servers outside Japan. Sign-in information is handled on Google's servers. Purchase and right-of-use records are stored mainly in a data center in Japan (Tokyo), but the company is based in the United States. Your study record stays on your device and is not transferred. By registering an account and buying, you agree to this transfer.
Japan's Personal Information Protection Commission publishes survey material on each country's system. Each company's measures are here: Firebase, Stripe, Cloudflare.
6. Cookies and information sent outside
We use no cookies. The app uses your device's storage (the browser's localStorage) to keep you signed in and for your study record and language setting. It sends the following outside at these moments. Nothing is sent for analysis or advertising.
- When you open the app. To Google LLC (Google Fonts, fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com): IP address, browser information. Purpose: showing the text
- When you open the sign-in screen. To Google LLC (the Google sign-in script, accounts.google.com/gsi/client): IP address, browser information, and what Google handles through its own cookies. Purpose: signing in with Google
- When you sign in, and to keep you signed in. To Google LLC (Firebase Authentication): email address, identifiers. Purpose: sign-in
- When you go on to buy. To Stripe, Inc. / Stripe Japan (you move to its payment screen): email address, your account's identifier. Purpose: payment
- Whenever a page or file loads. To Cloudflare, Inc.: IP address, the page viewed, browser type. Purpose: delivering the site and audio, preventing misuse
7. Security
- Only the business owner handles personal information. Outside helpers get only what a task needs, under a promise of confidentiality
- Connections are encrypted and access rights kept to what is needed
- We choose providers after checking the system of their country
8. Your rights
You may ask us to disclose, correct, add to, delete or stop using your personal information, and to disclose records of third-party provision. Write to support@nekolang.com. After confirming it is you, we respond without delay. There is no fee.
9. Deleting your account and data
You can delete your account at any time from the account section of the app. Your account and right of use are deleted on the spot, and are gone from backups within 30 days. The study record on that device is deleted too. A study record on another device is in that device's browser, so please clear that browser's data. Purchase records are kept without your name or email address, for up to 7 years as tax and other laws require. Records of a redeem code's use stay in a form that cannot be reversed (a hash). Payment information held by Stripe follows Stripe's rules.
10. Minors
If you are a minor, please use the Service with a parent's or guardian's consent.
11. Changes to this policy
We announce changes on this page, and important changes also in the app or by email.
